Welcome! I’m Kristen, founder of Maple House Buffalo, and I’m so happy you’re here! In the winter of 2021, my family and I moved into a century-old, renovated farmhouse. Ever since, I have fallen in love with DIY and design projects that have gradually transformed Maple House into our home.

Although 2021 was a challenging year as we continued to navigate the pandemic along with the rest of the world, it was also a year of beautiful change and growth for our family. We moved into our new home in March and in May of 21, we were delighted to find out that we were expecting our second child. A few months later in early August, our home was transformed into a gorgeous, Italian-inspired wedding venue as my mom exchanged nuptials with the love of her life and celebrated her wedding ceremony. In December, my husband, Andy, who is quite handy and crafty himself, single-handedly transformed our pool house into his photography studio.

As we travel into 2022, I am inspired to create, write and share our continued growth at Maple House here in this blog. Our baby – whose gender will remain a surprise until birth – is due early this February. We’re having a lot of fun designing and decorating the nursery, and I can’t wait to share our progress along the way. This coming April, we look forward to transforming our home once again – this time into romantic, spring-inspired wedding venue, to host the ceremony and cocktail reception of my husband’s mother and her great love.

With all of these imminent and exciting events, I’ll be regularly sharing simple, affordable, and fun vintage-modern-inspired DIY & design projects. We aren’t perfect here at Maple House – my pictures may be styled and beautiful – but like any family – life can become hectic and our home can get messy. I believe it’s important to give yourself credit and grace for accomplishing what you can, and to take things one step at a time. As a full-time working mom, I also believe it’s absolutely okay to accept help and share in responsibility with your partner, other family members, friends – whoever makes up your village. I wouldn’t be able to foster my love for creativity and design if it wasn’t for the support of my husband, mom, and step-dad. They are my rock.

Ultimately, it’s my hope that this space brings a smile to your face, a little more beauty to your world – reassures you that you’re not alone – and most importantly, inspires your own sense of fun and creativity. I would love to hear from you, so please always feel free to write me or leave a comment.

All my best,
